Crafty Christmas III

Another year has gone by, and it is already Christmas week! Since my husband and I are new homeowners, we are trying to be more conscious of our spending. I always do something for my coworkers, but this year it had to be something that was not too expensive. I decided to attach a tag to a candy cane, and write a little note on the back. I used scissors with scalloped blades to cut a design on the edges of each tag. I then finished it off with a red ribbon which was tied to the candy cane. I am very pleased with the results!

O(ur) Christmas Tree!

I just wanted to post a picture of our Christmas tree. It's gold and black this year. We might put some lights outside, so I will post those pics if we do.

A little tardy

It has been a busy month, but I wanted to post a few pictures from Thanksgiving. The actual turnout looks a tad different from the inspiration board, but that's okay, life is all about changes!

My Little Pony...

I don't know if I'm late, but this is totally new to me. My sister showed me a site today that sells modified versions of My Little Pony. The creator is Finland artist Mari Kasurinen. She starts with a regular pony, and adds costumes, hair, makeup, etc to make them into celebrities and movie characters. I love it! Here are my two favorites-

Thanksgiving Inspiration Board

Since we have a house now, we decided to host Thanksgiving this year! My grandma got us a beautiful set of china (similar to the image below, but our set has a beautiful red, gold and peach design on it), so I am going to base the rest of the design off of it. I created an inspiration board at Polyvore to try to get started with ideas of the feel that I want.

At this exact time last year, I was in the bridal suite getting my makeup and hair done. I wasn't nervous oddly enough. I was more concerned with taking my own pictures on my camera (go figure!). Of course I was wondering how everything that I had planned over the past eight months was going to turn out, but it wasn't taking over my mind. I was also thinking about the pending vacation (Puerto Rican honeymoon!), and having my soon-to-be husband by my side through everything in our lives.

Well, everything turned out beautiful. Although there were things that I would have liked to have been different, I still wouldn't trade that day in for anything else. This first year of marriage was wonderful. Some people say that the first year of marriage is the hardest. I can't say that I agree. It was a very smooth transition for us. People always ask me "How is married life?" I always say that it is great and that nothing has changed. I think that is the key to a happy marriage from my experience so far. If the two of you stay true to yourselves and don't try to be something/someone that you aren't, you are on the right track to many happy years together. It's beautiful to see couples that have been together for years and years that still act like young teenagers in love. That is what I want, and I feel confident that we will have. So to you, loving husband, happy anniversary!

First House Project!

With the suggestion of a dear friend of mine, I decided to write a list of all things that need to be done to the house (mainly so that I don't forget anything...and maybe so that I can scare myself into doing it by looking at the long list). I decided to start somewhere with it yesterday. The chandelier that is in our dining area was pretty plain. I want to change it out at some point, but in order to save money I decided to just add a little something to it in the meantime. I mentioned to my grandma that I might want to put shades on it, and she told me about a local thrift shop that had a good variety of them. I decided to go there yesterday and I got them for one dollar each!
